Diablo 4 softcore leveling is not as restrictive as hardcore leveling as you can revive every time you lose a fight since hardcore players must start over every time they die. This fact can be frustrating because you lose all your progress and loot.
In the next section of our fast leveling guide, we will talk about the best ways to level up under level 50 and the quickest way to go from 50 to 100.
How to level up 1-50 Fast in Diablo 4?

If you would like to skip this grind and jump straight to the end game, you can ask a higher level friend to carry you through World Tier 2 dungeons, or simply buy a Diablo 4 Powerleveling Service and let KBoosting handle everything for you.
In the following section, we will talk about the fastest method to level up after level 50.

- Step 2: Unlock World Tier 3
- Step 3: Complete Dungeons repeatedly
- Step 4: Improve your build by adding Sacred gear

Through our tests, we have identified the most efficient way to reach level 100. In the following paragraphs, we will share our insights and guide you through the proven approach that guarantees optimal leveling results.
One of the most efficient methods for leveling up from 50 to 100 in Diablo 4 is by farming normal dungeons and repeatedly resetting them. Our rigorous testing proved that the most effective technique to swiftly level up your character from 50 to 100 in Diablo 4 is farming Champion's Demise dungeon in World Tier 3 and 4. This place guarantees exceptional XP gains.
In the next section, we will talk about the the fastest way to level up your seasonal character in Diablo 4.
Diablo 4 Seasonal Leveling
In this section, we will delve into Seasonal Character Leveling, briefly explaining how the leveling works for Seasonal Characters and the similarities it shares with Diablo 3's seasons.
In Diablo 4's Seasonal mode, every player embarks on a fresh start, being able to skip the main story if they have already completed it with a non-seasonal character. This means you can jump straight into leveling your seasonal character through Dungeons, just as you would with your alts.
As you start your Seasonal Journey, certain elements of your Renown progression will carry over, ensuring a smoother experience. The Renown progress that you keep includes:
- Map Zones you've already uncovered.
- Waypoints you found.
- Altars of Lilith you unlocked.
Seasonal vs Non-Seasonal Characters in D4
Differences between seasonal and non-seasonal characters in D4:
- Non-Seasonal characters don't benefit from Season Blessings
- Seasonal characters can take advantage from Seasonal features and buffs
- Season Journey & Battle Pass progression will improve the whole Seasonal leveling experience.
Fastest Seasonal Leveling Method
After playing the first Season of D4, we found the ultimate leveling strategy that works best for all players' categories. Whether you are a Solo player or want to take advantage of Group play, you should focus on the following steps to ensure you level up your Seasonal Character fast in Diablo 4:
- Step 1: Create a Seasonal character on World Tier 1 and Skip the Campaign.
- Step 2: Claim the first 2 Renown rewards in all 5 zones.
- Step 3: Pick a Leveling Build for your character and follow it. Check our Best Leveling Builds Guide.
- Step 4: Complete the dungeons containing the aspects you need for your build.
- Step 5: Complete the Strongholds and focus on Dungeons. Try to complete as much as you can from Renown and Seasonal Journey through your leveling process for extra XP. Craft & use Elixirs for a 5% XP bonus. Even if Dungeons are the fastest way to level up, Season Journey is a very quick way too if you aim for a more fun & diversified experience.
- Step 6: Move to World Tier 2 after completing your leveling build.
- Step 7: Run Dungeons that also grant Grim Favors to take the extra XP rewards from the Tree of Whispers.
- Step 8: As soon as you reach Level 50, start completing Nightmare Dungeons.
- Step 9: Unlock World Tier 3.
- Step 10: Choose an End-Game Build and complete it as fast as possible. Check our End-Game Builds Guide.
- Step 11: Pay attention to the Seasonal Theme and take advantage from the buffs you can use for your build. (example: Vampiric Powers in Season 2)
- Step 12: Don't forget to kill the World Bosses as they spawn and run some Helltides to get Forgotten Souls.
- Step 13: Unlock World Tier 4.
- Step 14: Farm for Ancestral Items and Legendary aspects to upgrade your build. Remember to upgrade your gear & gems. Reroll your stats and improve your build as much as you can. Share Gear from your main character.
- Step 15: Farm the Blood Harvest event to get as much Potent Blood as you can, along with Pacts & Cleansing Acid to optimize your Pact Armor.
- Step 16: Unlock & Upgrade the best Vampiric Powers for your seasonal build.
- Step 17: Complete Nightmare Dungeons until you reach Level 100.
Best Seasonal Leveling Dungeons
Excitingly, the XP rate will change, so the amount of experience you get from Dungeons farming will receive a buff throughout the Season. Your leveling progress will be much faster. Players will be able to reach the End-Game quickly, explore the new features brought by the Season update, and create a dynamic gameplay environment. In the following list, you can find the best XP-farming Nightmare Dungeons for Seasonal Leveling in Diablo 4:
- Carrion Fields
- Deserted Underpass
- Flooded Depths
- Ghoa Ruins
- Belfry Zakala
- Fetid Mausoleum
XP Farming Speed Changes in Season of Blood
In Season 2 of Diablo 4, the leveling process is significantly faster, especially for characters above level 50. You'll earn more XP from killing monsters, making it quicker to reach level 100. To speed things up even more, you'll get XP bonuses for playing on higher World Tiers, using Elixirs, and Seasonal Blessings. These bonuses will multiply together in Season of Blood.
In the endgame, you'll earn more XP by participating in Helltides and completing Grim Favors. Nightmare dungeons allow you to teleport directly to their entrances. Additionally, NMDs have higher mob density, making the overall leveling experience 40% faster.
In the following topic, we will approach the best ways to farm XP, the quickest methods to reach max lvl, the best areas, activities, and more.
The fastest way to farm XP in Diablo 4
At first sight, the leveling process looks pretty straightforward, but completing the campaign's quests won't get you enough XP to reach level 50. Also, the Paragon levels require a lot of XP grind, so you must choose the best leveling methods to gain progress fast and not waste your time doing low XP activities in weak areas.
Fastest Solo Leveling Method
In the following list, you will find the best path to follow for fast leveling:
- 1. Complete the main story quests
- 2. Complete Dungeons repeatedly
- 3. Complete all the Orange Events (local events) and World Events you find on the map
- 4. Complete side quests along with your campaign missions
- 5. Kill everything you meet, but don't walk around the map seeking them.
- 6. Clear Strongholds
- 7. Join Legion Events
Best Place to Level in Diablo 4
There are many places on the map where players decide to farm for XP, but overall, the best places to level up quickly in Diablo IV are Normal Dungeons & Nightmare Dungeons, especially the ones in the following list:
- Uldur's Cave
- Champion's Demise
- Zenith
- Sunken Ruins
- Aldurwood
Best Leveling Areas
The best areas to farm XP if you want to level up quickly are Normal Dungeons. You can farm them repeatedly and earn huge amounts of XP from elites and hordes of mobs.
Another great area where you can farm XP are Strongholds. Besides their primary purpose, those places are full of monsters you can kill. There are a lot of Strongholds in D4 and their difficulty scales with your level. Besides the high amount of experience points that you get, by clearing the areas, some of them will turn into facilities you can use. Others turn into a zone event with a timer called The Gathering Legions.
Besides The Strongholds we can find in Diablo 4 so far are:
- Malnok
- Nostrava
- Kor Dragan
- Qara Yisu
- Temple of Rot
- Onyx Watchtower
- Crusaders' Monument
- Eriman's Pyre
- Vyeresz
- Alcarnus
- Altar of Ruin
- Omath's Stronghold
- Hope's Light
- Moordaine Lodge
- Tur Dulra
Note: Completing Strongholds and unlocking the Zone Event is a good way to speed up your leveling process, but the best way to farm XP so far is completing a normal dungeon repeatedly.
Best Leveling Activities
As you already know, completing the main story is insufficient to reach the max level in Diablo IV. After finishing the campaign, you need a lot of filler XP to get to level 100. After testing Campaign completion on World Tier 1 and 2, the level you reach from campaign is 40-45, so you will need to reach 50 through dungeons and other activities to unlock Paragon. After this, you will be able to access World Tier 3 and keep farming XP and gear up your character for 50 more levels.
Filler XP represents the additional experience points you need to level up after completing the main story quests. Filler XP can be achieved by completing various activities such as strongholds, dungeons, events, side quests, and unlocking other map sections.
How to get additional XP? Filler XP
Regarding Filler XP sources, Blizzard added a lot of exciting activities in the Sanctuary, so you have many leveling options available. Still, some grant more experience points than others, so we wrote our powerleveling guide to help you choose wisely and save as much time as possible.
Top 3 XP rewarding activities in Diablo 4:
- 1. Dungeons
- 2. Local Events
- 3. Side Quests
Note: Before beginning any Dungeon, prepare your character, upgrade your gear and use potions to ensure you survive the waves of foes. At higher levels, these activities are more challenging than you expect.
In the following section, we will talk about the Diablo 4 leveling system, along with the best power leveling tips & tricks to minimize the time you spend in the early game.
Diablo 4 Power Leveling Tips & Tricks
There is no magic shortcut that can help you level up quickly without grinding for XP in Diablo 4 if you play Solo, but there are some tricks you can use to make the leveling process more efficient and gain more experience along the way.
We designed a list of Diablo 4 Tips & Tricks for fast leveling:
- Do every side quest that you come across while completing the main story.
- Kill every monster that you walk past.
- Complete each dungeon you find while moving through the open world, but don't chase them. Just do the ones required for Aspects or Side Quests.
- Playing multiplayer gets you more experience. You get bonus XP if you are near other players, and if you are in a party, you get an even more significant bonus.
- Join the orange-circle Local Events whenever you come across them.
- Complete strongholds. They are a great source of XP, and those areas are full of monsters.
- Take all the obelisks you find. If you are lucky, you may get bonus experience from foes for a limited time.
- If you conquered the Kor Dragan stronghold and the zone event is inactive, you can find a campfire there. Interacting with the fire gives you a stacking buff up to 15 times and helps you gain extra experience from enemies.
- Avoid dying. You will lose time due to the cooldown time required for revive and monster health reset.
- Don't mess around. The map is enormous, go straightforward.
- Join other players when you meet them. Helping others grants additional XP, especially if you join a group. Diablo 4 is built specifically to encourage Co-Op. Don't be a lone wolf.
- Killing higher-level monsters and elites grants more experience points than going for low-level enemies and minions.
- Skip all the cinematics and dialogues.
Diablo IV Dungeons XP Farming Tricks
We would like to unveil the most optimal Dungeon for Powerleveling, but due to constant updates and modifications in the game, the amount of XP obtained from each Dungeon is subject to constant fluctuations. Blizzard applied this measure to encourage players to run each dungeon and not limit their gameplay experience to playing the same dungeon repeatedly.
Based on our extensive testing, we have found that the following Diablo 4 Dungeons offer the highest amount of XP/hour:
Dungeon | XP/hour |
Uldur's Cave (Solo) | 15,800,000 |
Zenith (Solo) | 14,328,000 |
Sunken Ruins (Solo) | 13,300,000 |
Champion's Demise (Group) | 23,550,000 |
Uldur's Cave (Group) | 18,285,240 |
Aldurwood (Group) | 14,352,000 |
By rotating among these dungeons, you can accumulate significant amounts of experience. Nonetheless, in Diablo IV there is a more substantial source of experience that we can currently exploit. This method implies Nightmare Dungeons.
As you already know, the Nightmare Dungeons are the "big brother" of Normal dungeons, and they are not as easily repeatable as the regular ones, since they require specific Nightmare Sigils that you get from the Tree of Whispers, other Nightmare Dungeons, or craft at the Occultist.
We will now provide you with a breakdown of specific steps to help you make the most of this opportunity and level up fast in Diablo 4:
- Step 1: Acquire a Sigil & enter a Nightmare Dungeon, ideally the Nightmare version of the ones above. (Uldur's Cave can't be turned into a Nightmare Dungeon)
- Step 2: Leave the Nightmare Dungeon, get into another Normal Dungeon (any of them), slay a couple monsters and leave.
- Step 3: Go back to the Nightmare Dungeon and clear all the monsters, but don't kill the boss.
- Step 4: Leave the dungeon and return to it. You will find it repopulated with monsters that you can kill again for XP.
- Step 5: Repeat the process until you reach the desired level.
Note: This method can be applied by solo players only, and we think that it will be available for a limited period of time, until the developers fix it, so take advantage before it's too late.
POWERLEVELING SERVICES
These activities will also increase your region progress. As you complete the activities around the map, you will get extra Renown points, letting you claim XP bonuses and other rewards such as skill points and potion charges.
Strongholds also give you 100 renown points each. Region progress unlocks awesome rewards and extra XP.
Note: A pro tip is clearing Champion's Demise dungeon, reset it and keep farming it. It's proven that this place is a great XP source, especially after level 50.
What does Diablo 4 power leveling mean?
Diablo 4 Powerleveling is the process of getting your character to the maximum level as quickly as possible, using the best leveling methods & techniques, such as choosing the right world tiers, farming the activities that grant the most XP, and taking advantage of all XP rewards along your journey.
How to Powerlevel in Diablo 4?
- 1. A High-Level player opens a play session in World Tier 2 and you join the party.
- 2. The new character stays back while the carrier clears the way through Dungeons.
- 3. After level 50, the carrier will complete the Capstone dungeon for you to unlock World Tier 3
- 4. The carrier will repeatedly complete World Tier 3 Dungeons until you reach level 70
- 5. The High-Level player will complete the World Tier 4 Capstone dungeon to unlock the highest and most XP rewarding difficulty
- 6. You will have to complete dungeons again along with your carrier, until you reach level 100
In the list above, we have unlocked the secrets of Powerleveling in Diablo 4, revealing a comprehensive list of steps to catapult any character to maximum level. Whether you're seeking to rapidly level up an alt character or help a friend ascend to greatness, our proven powerleveling methods will guide you towards accelerated success.
What can you powerlevel in Diablo 4?
- Character leveling 1-50
- Paragon leveling 50-100
- Renown Leveling (Region Progress)
- Skills Leveling
- Potions Leveling
Can you powerlevel friends/alts in Diablo 4?
Yes, powerleveling friends and alts is a very efficient practice in Diablo 4. If you already have a powerful character that can carry other players, the leveling time will be way shorter. Group powerleveling is a perfect choice. On top of that, playing with others is way more fun.
If you don't have a max-level character yet, you can take advantage of a helping friend or a boosting service for an enhanced leap level. KBoosting is the best place to buy a Diablo 4 Powerleveling service.
Playing with friends is the most efficient way to level up quickly in Diablo 4. The game rewards additional experience for Co-Op. There are strategies you can take advantage of when playing with a group, for example:
- Farming different locations at the same time.
- Leeching XP when you are not playing. You can just stay AFK in a safe area, gaining experience when your friends are playing. You can do this in rotation so everyone will benefit.
- Completing higher difficulty objectives as a team for more leveling effectiveness.
How to power level in Diablo 4?
The best way to power level your account in Diablo 4 is by asking a higher-level friend to carry you through dungeons, strongholds, and other activities, helping you discover new locations and earning renown points to unlock all the XP rewards. You can always hire a booster to help you power level in D4 if your high-level friends are not available.
In the sections below, we will treat each step in your Diablo 4 leveling path, so you will know what to do first and what is worth prioritizing during your level-up journey in Diablo IV.
Choose Higher World Tiers (difficulty levels)
Choosing the highest world tier is not always the best practice for leveling up fast. You should select the difficulty that lets you progress without dying repeatedly. We recommend choosing a medium difficulty, such as Veteran or even the Adventurer, for quicker progress through the story. If you play in a higher world tier, your XP buff is more significant, but the foes will be stronger, so prepare for tough fights.
The difficulties available in Diablo 4 are:
- World Tier 1 – Adventurer (the easiest)
- World Tier 2 – Veteran (accessible and rewarding)
- World Tier 3 – Nightmare (unlocked at level 50)
- World Tier 4 – Torment (recommended level 70)
On what difficulty should I level in Diablo 4?
A higher world tier grants more XP from mobs and activities, so we recommend choosing Veteran difficulty instead of base difficulty (Adventurer). The Nightmare and Torment are only unlocked after level 50.
From our experience in Diablo 4 Beta, the Veteran difficulty is way more rewarding, and it's not that hard. With some practice, you will move through all activities lightning-fast if you pay attention to your build and choose the right skills.
Does Diablo 4 difficulty scale with level?
Yes. The monsters' level will be higher as you level up, and they will be tougher, but you will be stronger, so there will not be a significant difference. Since the story progression is non-linear, the foes are accessible for you, no matter which zones you choose. The game is designed to be permissive.
Completing all quests in the main story
The main story is definitely the step you must begin your journey within Diablo 4. It is the base experience source in the early game, and we recommend focusing on the campaign first. You can complete the missions in any order you wish, and this should be your primary focus at the beginning.
The Diablo 4 story is placed 30 years after the Diablo 3 story. The Sanctuary began its recovery after the prime Evil and Malthael (angel of Death) were defeated by the Nephalem, and the Black Soulstone was destroyed. A new threat disturbs the order in Sanctuary after a greedy group of thieves ventured into an ancient tomb in search of Gold and knowledge. They meet a pale mystery man and release Lilith from the void.
The daughter of Mephisto, Lord of Hatred, is now seeking revenge on her ex-lover, Inarius, the archangel who deserted from the Eternal War between angels and demons. Lilith and Inarius created the Sanctuary together and gave birth to a son, Rathma, the first Nephalem. You will have to follow the footsteps of Lilith and complete particular objectives to find the actual reasons behind her actions, understand the purposes of Inarius, become stronger, and protect humankind in an open-world environment. The campaign is non-linear, so you can choose your own path in completing the Acts and even objectives.
There are 6 Acts in Diablo IV's main story along with a short Prologue and Epilogue. The story takes up to 14 hours to finish. In the following list youy can find all the acts in Diablo 4's campaign:
- Prologue - Wandering
- Act 1 - A Cold and Iron Faith (1.5 hours)
- Act 2 - The Knife Twists Again (2.5 hours)
- Act 3 - The Making of Monsters (3 hours)
- Act 4 - A Gathering Storm (30 minutes)
- Act 5 - Secrets Bartered, Fates Sold (4.5 hours)
- Act 6 - Dance of the Makers (1.5 hours)
- Epilogue - From the Wound Spilled
Complete side quests
Side missions are a great source of XP in Diablo 4. You will find those missions in all locations, especially in villages. It's even better to complete most of them during your main story since they grant significant amounts of extra experience points. Most of them are simple tasks that don't take long, and the rewards definitely worth the effort.
Finish Local Events (orange circle)
Local events are one of the best sources of XP in Diablo 4's open world. You can find these events randomly around the map, so we advise you to stop and complete them whenever you can. Local events are marked with an orange circle on your map, and once you join them you will have to defeat a couple of waves of demons, some elites and claim the treasure. Be aware that some orange events are time-gated, so you must move quickly and beat the timer to get the rewards.
To complete local events, you have to follow the path. The local event types in Diablo 4 are:
- Obelisk of the Ancients - stand on the pressure plates.
- Besieged Caravan - survive an ambush and rescue the Caravan.
- Battle Altar - survive an attack and collect 30 enemy souls.
- Cursed Hatchery - protect villagers.
- Desecrated Ground - kill all channelers to stop the ritual and destroy the construct.
- Slaughter the Insatiable - survive a ritual and prevent demons from getting souls.
- Wave of Darkness - defeat 5 enemy waves in 1 minute.
- Stubborn Soul - kill demons in the area and escort the Stubborn Soul.
- Eradicate Evil - defeat the Elite while the timer still has 1 minute left.
- Assert Yourself - defeat 5 enemy waves protecting the Adventurer.
- Liberation - free the prisoners and kill the Elite while the timer has 1 minute left.
- Destroy the Pictures - destroy 3 structures and kill the Elite while there are 60 seconds left on the timer.
Besides the high amount of XP that you get from these orange events, there are unique rewards at the end, so if you are brave enough to finish local events, you will claim a treasure that contains stunning loot and a special currency called Obols. You can use this currency to purchase mysterious items from the Curiosity trader, which will speed-up your leveling journey further more.
Complete Dungeons
Dungeons are a great place where you can farm XP and level up fast in Diablo 4. These activities are spread around the map and contain massive numbers of enemies. You have to clear the way through the corridors and rooms until you reach the final boss. Some dungeons contain Legendary Aspects, class-specific abilities that you can add to your gear. Dungeons can be completed in a group or solo.
Are Dungeons a good leveling method in D4?
Yes. Farming Dungeons is one of the best ways to level up in Diablo IV, so we recommend completing them as often as possible during your leveling process.
Join Events
There are 3 types of Events in Diablo 4, and as we mentioned below, these activities are one of the best XP sources in the game. The event types in Diablo 4 are:
- Local Events (also known as World Events) - most common
- Live Events
- Dungeon Events
As we talked about local events in the dedicated section below, our Diablo 4 Leveling guide will focus on the other two types of events available.
The Live Events are seasonal events that Blizzard will open randomly to surprise players and keep them active.
You can participate in these seasonal events only once while they are active (1-2 days). They are a great way to achieve even more experience along the way, and live events grant massive amounts of experience and unique items.
You may find Dungeon Events randomly while completing a dungeon if you are lucky enough. If you complete Dungeon Events in Diablo 4, you will get XP rewards and Gold, helping you progress faster.
Note: I recommend joining all events you find along the way, regardless of the event type. The amount of XP you get from these activities is great, and you may also get valuable gear. This practice will boost your leveling process.
Kill all the Demons you meet
To speed up your leveling process, you must kill all the enemies you meet on your way to certain objectives on the map.
Monsters grant a decent amount of experience, so don't hesitate to fight if you meet them. Don't move along the map looking for monsters to kill; this is not the best leveling method. As you already know, the higher level monsters grant more XP.
Get Renown Points (Region Progress)
Finally, in this section, we are going to discuss the Renown system, also called Region Progress, and how it will affect your Diablo 4 Leveling process.
Renown is a great addition to Diablo IV's open-world environment, helping you reach maximum level quicker while completing side activities and exploring the map. Each activity you complete will get you Renown Points that you can spend to claim bonuses such as XP bonus, Gold, Skill points, Potion charges, Obols, Paragon points, and more.
We were able to see 5 Renown steps in the early access beta so far, but there may be more at the full release.
The list below contains the Renown value of all objectives:
- Unlocking Waypoints: 20 Renown
- Completing Strongholds: 100 Renown
- Side Quests: 20 Renown
- Discover Areas: 5 Renown
- Complete Side Dungeons: 30 Renown
- Altars of Lilith: 10 Renown
As you probably noticed, the best way to level up your Renown is to complete the Strongholds and get 100 points for each. The other activities are also worth the effort since you get a lot of XP in the process and unlock the next Renown tier.
The following section will present the pros and cons of playing in a group or solo while leveling up your character in D4.

In the table below, we will compare both ways and decide which is the most efficient method overall and the balance between solo & group leveling in Diablo 4:
